Award for Financial Mail's Jo Thornhill
Financial Mail reporter Jo Thornhill has scooped the award for Best Protection Story at the 2011 LifeSearch Protection Awards.
Jo won the prize for her groundbreaking coverage of protection insurance issues. In particular, the judges praised a report in October last year that highlighted the gulf in price and quality of service between banks selling life insurance and critical illness policies, and whole-of-market financial advisers.
The article explained that consumers could be spending 20 per cent more on the same product simply by buying it through their bank.
