Our writers also scooped a number of awards and commendations: James Salmon of Money Mail was voted Consumer Journalist of the Year, praised for "the originality of his work...all in all this is investigative money journalism at the peak of its game" and Stephen Womack of The Mail on Sunday's Financial Mail took home the Consumer Insurance Writer of the Year prize. Judges praised him for "addressing the issues that consumers really want to learn about." Both James and Stephen are previous headlinemoney award-winners.

Jo Thornhill of Financial Mail was runner-up (highly commended) in the Consumer Protection category. Judges noted: "...her advice to readers and consumers is spot-on." Pensions specialist Philip Scott was also highly commended for his work for ThisisMoney.co.uk.

The headlinemoney awards celebrate outstanding achievement in financial journalism and communications.  All the journalist category winners are ultimately determined by their peers from around the financial services media for work which appeared during 2009. Nearly one hundred judges are involved in the overall process. Awards are made on the basis of editorial excellence.
